Who are you wearing?

It’s so close that you can smell the air of optimism. In the fashion calendar in Cebu, October has already begun last Sept. 29 when Philipp Tampus welcomed the month with over 100 couture looks he is most beloved for—textured shrugs, multi-layered tiered gowns, lace opulence—in a solo presentation entitled “Pink Exodus.” A crisscross of colors is a nod of approval that he, too, is a master of shade transitions.

MODERN WOMAN. Fashion designer Philipp Tampus is always guided by ultra feminine silhouettes that hug the body.

The Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino was mechanized into a palace with chandeliers that offered the perfect illumination for the intricate beadwork Tampus has rendered, all for the benefit of I Can Serve Foundation

SPARKLING SPECTACLE.

Seven days later, a Saturday, Oct. 6, still at the same venue, five of the world’s biggest fashion designers —Furne One, Francis Libiran, Ezra Santos, Cary Santiago, and Michael Cinco—will converge on one runway show to launch their latest haute couture frocks called “World Class.”

But a day before, Oct. 5, a Friday, another bevy will roll the drum beat without transferring to another hotel. Mel Maria, Rei Escario, Harvey Cenit, Hanz Coquilla, Bree Esplanada, Edwin Alba, Humberto Villegas, Lord Maturan, and Mike Yapching will send down their latest wedding garments at the “Intemporel” bridal fair at the Atlantic Hall, the highlight of Cebu Wedding Expo 2018.

Like the first show, the Life! editors will also be producing a special magazine for both spectacles, an in-depth look at how the creative wheel spins forward.

This time around, it’s not like some excess baggage we’re stuck in because fashion is always about moving on to the next thrill.—Clint Holton Potestas
