THE University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) and the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Wizards ruled their respective categories in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Scrabble Tournament held last weekend at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
The USJ-R word wizards successfully defended their title as the champion in the elementary division while the UV Green Wizards topped the collegiate division.
The Jaguar wizards topped the competition with a total of 19 wins and +3,594 spreads to secure the gold medal.
While Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) placed second after tallying 13 wins and +1,099 spreads for a silver finish.
The bronze medal was claimed by the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Wizards with four wins and -4,691 spreads.
USJ-R’s Lord Garnett Talisic took hold of the Highest Single Game score with his 723 points and CIT-U’s Baracheil Roa bagged the Highest Single Turn with his 167 points.
In the collegiate division, UV’s John Rey Bilnas, John Kyle Vilbar, Janey Carl Jaboni, Chrismark Quitara, Schion Mae Atup and Marwin Arnado combined for gold after hoarding a total of 13 wins in six of their games.
The University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters and CIT-U garnered the silver and bronze medals with their 12 and 11 wins, respectively.
UV’s Janey Carl Jaboni’s 105 points secured her the Highest Single move award while CIT-U’s Viceel John Libradilla’s 507 points gave him the Highest Single Game score.
