Cops to conduct reenactment as probe on ‘salvage’ incident continues

Investigators of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will conduct a reenactment of the shooting incident that killed five people in the mountain barangay of Malubog, Cebu City.

Chief Supt. Debold Sinas, the director of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) said he will also visit the house of Antonio Belande, one of the two survivors, to get more information as to what really happened to them.

Leo Villarino, chief investigator of the Commission on Human Rights in Central Visayas (CHR-7) said they continue to wait for Belande to come forward and seek help from the commission.

Belande’s statement, Villarino said, is very important to determine whether or not the police were behind the killing.

The other witness, Sharmaine Puran, remains at the Archbishop’s Residence compound. Villarino said Puran is safe, happy, and contented.

Local church officials begged from issuing any statement as of now, saying all they are doing is to provide a pastoral haven for a vital witness.

Msgr. Joseph Tan, the spokesperson of the archdiocese, said Archbishop Jose Palma would not be giving any statement regarding the matter at the moment.

Meanwhile, Dennis Dabuco, village chief of Malubog, assured the public that their place remains safe amid the shooting incident last Thursday (October 4).
