Murdered Ronda mayor’s daughter files COC for town councilor

It’s been 40 days since the brutal killing of Ronda Mayor Nonie Blanco.

While family members continue to grieve Blanco’s untimely demise, his daughter Ann Marie opted to filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for town councilor hoping to continue her father’s legacy.

Ann Marie, Blanco’s eldest daughter, said on a Facebook post on Monday that she was hoping to follow mayor Blanco’s footsteps and also serve the people of Ronda town in southwestern Cebu.

The late mayor Blanco was killed on September 5 by still unidentified suspects who barged into his municipal hall office where he sleeps at night.

In her FB page, Ann Marie showed a picture of her holding the COC which she filed before the Ronda Comelec office earlier today (October 15).

“Serbisyo BLANCO magpadayon (the Blanco brand of service will continue),” Ann Marie wrote as a caption to her picture.

Terence Blanco, the late mayor’s younger brother, will seek election for town mayor while Acting Mayor Rocky Gabatan will seek another term for vice mayor.

The Blancos will be seeking election under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
