Sharks bolster lineup

THE CEBU City Sharks-Casino Ethyl Alcohol are welcoming home a familiar face in former University of the Visayas big man Edrian Lao, who the team picked in the dispersal draft on Monday.

A bruising 6-foot-5 forward, Lao’s impending addition to the Sharks’ tank would reunite him with former UV teammates, John Abad, Franz Arong, Rhaffy Octobre and Harold Cincoflores.

“I’m excited for the chance to play with my fellow Cebuanos, especially my previous teammates,” said Lao in a talk on Monday afternoon.

He bared that his contract was still in the process of being sent to the Sharks by his former team, the Davao Occidental Tigers, making his availability for today’s game against the Valenzuela Idol Cheesedogs a question mark.

The Sharks are coming off a huge 66-60 win over the Makati Skyscrapers, their second of the season in 10 games. They remain at the bottom of the Southern Division and hold the second worst record in the league, slightly above the Pasig Pirates, who picked up PBA veteran Jerwin Gaco from the dispersal draft.

The Caloocan Supremos picked third and selected another former pro in Jai Reyes but traded him to the Navotas Clutch in exchange for former Southwestern University standout, Monbert Arong.
