No more special bus permits issued

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7) will no longer issue special permit to bus and minibus in terminals, in lieu with the upcoming observance of the All Saints Day and All Souls Day on November 1 and 2.

LTFRB-7 Regional Director Eduardo Montealto Jr. said that this is to control the number of buses who wish to ply outside their route.

“The issuance of the special permit will only be done at our office, because we want to make sure that those who will apply for it will not exceed to 25 percent in every route who have requested for the special permit,” Montealto said.

He revealed that as of the moment, there are around 97 buses that were able to acquire special permit across the region.

Montealto urged bus and minibus operators who wish to apply for special permit to visit their office and bring along with them a photocopy of their franchise and the license of their drivers.

“They just have to pay (an application fee of) P170 that’s good for three days,” he said, adding that the last day of special permit issuance is going to be on Monday.

He added that bus and minibuses that will be caught plying outside their route can be charged for colorum and will be penalized for P1 million.
