Spectrum runners rule gaisano country mall run

NOW based in Cebu, the 21-kilometer champion of last October 14’s 42nd National Milo Marathon (NMM) Cebu Leg, Keenan Lou James Caburnay of Bukidnon, made his presence felt anew in the local running scene after dominating the 21K race of the Gaisano Country Mall 25th Anniversary Run which started and ended yesterday at Gaisano Country Mall in Banilad, Cebu City.

Caburnay, 24, of Spectrum Runners Club, clocked one hour, 12 minutes and 33 seconds to edge his friend and teammate Prince Joey Lee, who settled for second at 1:19.23. Third place was salvaged by Rider Omega Triathlon team’s Joseph Emia who clocked 1:14.43.

Caburnay led the Spectrum Runners’ dominating performance with the club bagging eight titles in total.

In the distaff side of the 21k, NMM Cebu Leg’s 21k female champion Ruffa Sorongon also bagged the 21k title with 1:33.28 while Spectrum’s Evamie Villarin settled for second at 1:35.24, and Marie Stephen Jayson clinched third with 1:40.04.

The other champions from Spectrum were Agustin Ychon (52:47) and Cherry Andrin (1:06.01), who both ruled the male and female categories in the 15k race, respectively; Erlincito Peonila (35:35) for the 10k race, Ruel Algufera (17:15) and Gretchen Sambo for the 5k category, and Jieter Bada and Reynalou Pantonial for the 3k male and female categories.
