IT’S the first time for Cebu to host the Miss and Mrs. Top of the World Plus Size pageant.
This was confirmed during a press conference last Tuesday, Oct.30, by MUZZ Events and Production Services.
According to Joshed Mesina, vice president for finance of MUZZ Events and Production Services, the competition will open with a welcome dinner and national costume competition at Be Resorts Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City on Nov. 7.
“They will also present video clips of their respective countries and why they joined the pageant along with their thoughts about being plus-size,” she said.
With the theme “Beauty Will Save The World,” around 20 candidates from Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia will be competing for the title.
Johanna Ruth Tan from Barangay Banawa, Cebu City, will wear the Philippine sash this year.
A swimsuit photoshoot, talent competition, and personal profile interview will follow on Nov. 8, still at Be Resorts Mactan.
The coronation night will be held on Nov. 9 at the Capitol Social Hall of the Cebu Provincial Capitol Building.
After the pageant, the candidates will visit top landmarks in Cebu like Magellan’s Cross and Alegre Guitar Factory in Lapu-Lapu City as well as Basilica del Santo Niño in Cebu City.
“This is to promote our tourist destinations and culture here in Cebu,” said Jennise Mesina, vice president for operation for MUZZ Events and Production Services.
The Miss and Mrs. Top of the World Plus Size pageant originated in Riga, Latvia in 2016 founded by Kristine
Lindenblate.
The 2016 winner was Fiona Tan from Singapore. In 2017, Cebu’s Jodel P. Mesina was crowned Ms. Top of the World Plus Size held in Singapore.
