At least 1,000 passengers were left stranded at the North Bus Terminal on Thursday morning (November 1).

Elvie Mendoza, 52, has been waiting for at least three hours for buses bound for Tabogon town, Cebu.

She said she arrived at the terminal as early as 8 a.m. and was surprised to see many passengers who wanted to go home in time for the observance of All Saints’ and Souls’ Day.

Transportation Development Officer Eugenio Ibo Jr. of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Central Visayas (LTFRB-7) said the number of buses could not keep up with the volume of passengers.

There are at least 300 registered buses at the terminal.

Ibo added that the buses have also longer turnaround time, causing the delay of trips.

Ibo said the LTFRB-7 has issued at least 100 special permits to buses in Cebu to accommodate passengers during the holidays.
