MCWD: Water service interruption to continue until 5 p.m.

Water consumers in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu and Consolacion town will have to wait until 5 p.m. today before they will again have water flowing from their faucets.

Residents in these areas have been without water since Wednesday night.

“For areas affected by the leak repair on Butuanon Bridge, estimated time of normal supply resumption is at 5 pm since we are still building up the pressure of water inside the pipes. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding,” said a press statement from the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD).

MCWD announced earlier a 12-hour water interruption that will affect the three localities from 8 p.m. on October 31 until 8 a.m. on November 1 to facilitate the repair two leaks on their main pipes located along the Butuanon River Bridge in Mandaue City.

The leaks were already detected earlier this month, but MCWD had to delay repair because of the need to first secure permits and hold meetings with the Department of Public Works and Highways in Central Visayas (DPWH-7) and the Mandaue City Government on the need to close nearby roads that will be affected by their excavation works.
