THE University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars and the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers won their respective games yesterday afternoon at the Cebu City Sports Center.
USJ-R edged University of Cebu, 1-0, while USPF blanked USC, 2-0.
Accounting for USJ-R’s goal in the 72nd minute was Alemark Ajumapit.
USPF, on the other hand, had Ares Duarte to thank for as he scored the brace.
The wins usher a “semifinal” atmosphere this Sunday, which is the last day of elimination, as all teams must win their games to advance to the finals.
This because the win gave USJ-R 11 points, the same points with University of the Visayas (UV) Green Booters and defending champions University of San Carlos (USC). The three are just separated by their goal difference (GD).
While idle UV is still at the top with a GD of seven points, USJ-R has climbed to the second spot with -1 and USC dropped to third with -2.
USPF is at fourth with 10 points.
The standings, however, will matter little as the four teams play their last games in the eliminations with USC facing USJ-R and UV to go up against USPF.
