DESPITE falling short in the Cesafi women’s volleyball tournament, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) head coach Yolanda Rizzari said she is still satisfied with what her team achieved this year.

The Lady Panthers settled for a third-place finish this year, defeating the defending champion Southwestern University (SWU)- Phinma Cobras, 25-20, 25-18, 25-21, in the bronze medal game on Sunday morning at the USPF gym.

“No frustrations at all,” Rizarri said. “We are satisfied with what we got.”

Rizarri said the performance of her college team this year is still worth commending.

“We are getting stronger. In the previous years, we could not even make it into the top four” said Rizarri, whose girls team was crowned Cesafi high school champions the other weekend following a 2-1 series victory over the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

“This achievement still deserves acknowledgment and I am still very proud of the girls.”

USPF actually swept the high school volleyball titles with the boys squad also emerging champions against the University of San Carlos.

In the men’s side, the Cebu Institute of Technology- University (CIT-U) Wildcats took the bronze after defeating University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), 29-27, 27-25, 25-22.
