CEBUANA singer Golden Cañedo, the first grand winner of GMA’s singing competition, “The Clash” received cheers and warm welcome during her homecoming in Cebu last Saturday.

Dubbed the “Golden Voice of  Cebu,” the 16-year-old star shared to Cebu’s Entertainment Group how the contest and her victory changed her life.

“Nabag-o ang akong kinabuhi tungod sa “The Clash.” Nabag-o ang dagan (kinabuhi). Busy na kaayo sa bag-ong show nga “Studio 7” kay sige na og taping every week para ipagawas every Sunday,” she said in a press con last
Saturday.

“Studio 7” is GMA’s newest musical variety show which airs every Sunday. It features Julie Anne San Jose and Christian Bautista, among other GMA stars, as well as Cañedo’s fellow Clashers Jong Madaliday, Josh Adornado, Anthony Rosaldo, Garret Bolden, and Danielle Ozaraga.

The young singer, who recently inked a contract with GMA Artist Center and GMA Records, also confirmed that she is working with veteran composer Vehnee Saturno for her album which will be released next year.

Part of the album will be her version of the classic, “Ngayon” composed by revered songwriter George Canseco. This will be released on November 23. “Ngayon” was Cañedo’s winning song during grand finals of “The Clash.”

Originally from the town of Minglanilla, she and and her family transferred to Manila, the charming performer also revealed that more people now recognize and idolize her.

“Daghan nang ga chat nako. Dili nako normal person. Basta mo gawas sa balay kay dapat naa ko’y make-up,” she said sheepishly.
Before “The Clash,” her life revolved around school, home, and joining barangay singing contests.

“Karon kay balay to GMA and taping. Lingaw man sad kay akong mga nakit-an sa una sa TV kay nakauban nako, like Kyline Alcantara, Mavy (Legaspi), and Cassy (Legaspi),” she said.
