25 families in Cebu City to evacuate in preps for TD Samuel

The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) will conduct a preemptive evacuation of 25 families (150 individuals) living in high-risk areas as part of their preparations for Tropical Depression Samuel.

CCDRRMO chief Nagiel Bañacia said these affected residents are within the landslide-risk area in Sitio Sandayong of Buhisan village.

“The preemptive evacuation will be conducted tonight. The barangay will be sheltering the evacuees in their gym,” said Bañacia.

The state weather bureau, in their severe weather bulletin issued at 11 a.m. today, located the eye of Samuel 335 kilometers east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

Samuel has maintained its strength as it is expected to make landfall in Samar-Leyte-Dinagat area tonight.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) predicted Samuel to make another landfall in Cebu tomorrow morning, November 21.

Bañacia also recommended not to lift the suspension of classes yet in Cebu City.
