Cebu City Hall has one month and a week to go and more than half a million pesos to collect in order to reach its P6.1 billion revenue target for fiscal year 2018.

Acting City Treasurer Veronica Morelos said the City Treasurer’s Office posted P5.4 billion in revenue from January to October this year.

“We’re confident that we can meet the target since there is now little difference before the year ends,” she said.

Last June, the city government reached more than half of its target after posting P4.2 billion in revenue.

This figure is higher compared to the P3.8 billion income they posted for the same period last year.

The bulk of the city’s income came from the collection of business taxes and real property tax (RPT).

Morelos credited the revenue hike to their intensified campaign against erring business establishments.

“We’re still doing our tax-mapping in order to identify tax delinquents. As of now, we estimated that there’s around P1 billion worth of uncollected tax from establishments who fail to pay their tax schedules,” she said.
