Netizens, who saw a video posted by a concerned citizen on minors who were trying to destroy a portion of the seawall of the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR)to collect iron bars and other scrap metals, are asking law enforcers to go after these children.
“Where is our peace and order officials? Sigi lang ug focus sa drugs nga kining mga bataa mo dagko ni nga future drug addicts and criminals,” said Joy Taga.
Jose Protacio agreed that these minors could end up being “future criminals of Cebu” if not attended to.
On Saturday, Rhoel Dejano posted a short video of minors who were trying to destroy a portion of the seawall at the CSCR on Saturday morning.
His video already had 45,000 views and 1, 531 shares as of 5 p.m. on Sunday.
“This street kids are destroying the seawall across SM Seaside (SRP side) by banging rocks on it to expose the metal supports which they remove and sell. This walls I suppose costs millions to build and are slowly destroyed by these rascals. Please help me forward or share this video to the proper city authorities so they can make the necessary action,” Dejano said on his Facebook post.
Tirso Go, who was among those who saw Dejano’s video, said that policemen should be stationed at the South Coastal Road while other netizens called on Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to act on the matter.
Others blame the passage of the Juvenile Justice Law authored by Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
“Dahin yan s batas na walang makukulong na minor (de) edad. Ayan ang kabataan lumaki ang mga ulo. Walang takot,” commented Jobeth Stwielly.
But for Clude Radolla, the boys caught on video were only trying to earn a living.
“That’s what happens when people need to support their family and the prices are high and no work.”
