THE Cebu Provincial government gave away P43 million for local government units (LGUs), including barangays and puroks, that excelled in the areas of tourism, governance, livability, environmental protection and resiliency during the Our Cebu Program (OCP) awarding at the Grand Convention Center in Cebu City yesterday.
The OCP Awards is based on the performance evaluation of the different LGUs in areas under the key agenda of the provincial administration.
Instead of ranking LGUs and awarding the top performing ones like in the previous years, this year’s OCP gave five sets of major awards depending on the score garnered by the LGUs: Diamond (96-100%), Platinum (91-95%), Gold (86-90 %), Silver (81 to 85 %) and Bronze (75 to 80%).
The cities of Naga and Bogo were the only ones who were conferred the Platinum award for their overall average score.
Twelve other LGUs were awarded the Gold award; 23 were silver awardees while 13 went home with the bronze awards.
Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, OCP manager, said the scorecards and rubrics of OCP have helped LGUs to identify their strength and work on their learning opportunities.
Now on its fifth year, OCP has started a coaching-mentoring component to guide LGUs on the areas that they need to improve.
In the barangay category, only one barangay qualified for the platinum award.
Another one barangay was conferred the gold award while six were silver awardees and 15 were given the bronze award.
This is also the first time that OCP included recognizing puroks.
The Purok awards were given to Purok 1 of Tinaan, Naga City; Purok Bangus of Nailon , Bogo City and Purok Tambis, Heneral, Tudela Cebu.
