The collision of a Calvo minibus and a Fuso truck injured 12 passengers including the bus driver in Barangay Pangdan, Naga City, south Cebu yesterday morning.

Traffic investigator PO2 Arnel Omloges told Cebu Daily News that the passenger bus driven by Rammel Villaver, 45, was on its way to Cebu City when it was hit by a dump truck driven by Leonardo Lasan on the way to Toledo City.

Initial investigation revealed that Lasan overtook a car ahead of him but failed to return to his lane and hit the passenger bus instead. Furthermore, the passenger bus rammed into a residence owned by a certain Eladio Parame destroying a portion of his property.

The passengers and the driver on board the minibus sustained injuries and were brought to the hospital for treatment.

The injured passengers were Carlos Basak, Enrico Jumawan, Mickey Lastima, Paul Paran, Edwin Botawi, Ma. Lourdes Garcia, Benjamin Barbadillo, Angelita Hermosa, Jennifer Dela Torre, and Raul Bertuldo.

Parame was also brought to the hospital after sustaining injuries.

SPO1 Menandro Boligor, the chief investigator of Naga Police Station, said they have sent a letter to the LTO (Land Transportation Office) to suspend Lasan’s driver’s license.

Boligor said that Lasan may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to properties.

He added the victims may also file charges against the suspect.

Boligor also said the police will no longer file charges against the bus liner and the truck because these are owned by the same owner.
