MCBL semis cast complete

Gemini Shipping, Strive for Greatness, Brinnovid and Royal Soy Sauce all advanced to the semifinals of the Metro Cebu Basketball League after they put down their respective opponents in the semifinals last weekend at the City Sports Club-Cebu.

Brinnovid took down the Hotshots, 97-73, as Christopher Obeso put up monster numbers of 32 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and four blocked shots to help his team advance to the Final Four of this league that was founded by former University of San Carlos guard and now PAREF Springdale coach Jacques Bautista.

Brinnovid will next take on Strive for Greatness in the Final Four after the latter outlasted the Black Eagles, 85-79. King Osabel spearheaded SFG’s cause with a double-double performance of 25 points and 11 rebounds to go with four assists and two steals.

In other games in the quarterfinals, the Royal Soy Sauce disposed of the Blue Titans, 85-68, behind a balanced scoring attack that saw four different players score in double figures led by Lino Martel who had 19 points.

Royal Soy Sauce will be tangling with Gemini Shipping, which beat the Journey to Recovery, 100-94. JD Solitario led the winning side with 19 points.
