THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas-A continued their unbeaten run in the under-16 division A after they emerged victorious in the Alaska Basketball Cup 2014 last weekend at the Lux Oriens gym of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.
UV-A won their second game in a row with a 67-47 drubbing of the Cebu Eastern College-A. In another game in the same division, guest team SCSIT got past the University of San Jose-Recoletos-A, 49-38.
In the under-13 division, CEC kept their slate clean with a 56-54 squeaker over the Holy Spirit School of Tagbilaran City. The win was the Dragons’ fourth in as many games while sending the visitors to their first loss in three matches. Meanwhile, SHS-AdC A evened out their record at 2-2 (win-loss) with a 54-27 rout of Don Bosco-B.
In division 2 of the same age group, CIC-Mandaue beat St. Benedict, 52-23 while CEC-B blasted Don Bosco-B, 50-26.
In the under-10 class, USJ-R won their third straight game with a 35-31 win over USC Gold while UV edged St. Benedict, 25-15.
The ABCC 2014 is a partnership between Alaska Milk and the Cebu Youth Basketball League which is now on its seventh season as a venue for grassroots and developmental basketball for age groups 16 and below. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
