Police: Woman shot, wounded in Cebu City is engaged in jewelry business

CEBU CITY, Philippines —  The woman who was shot and wounded by a lone gunman in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City early this evening was a businesswoman in her 50s, police said.

The victim, Leticia Dosdos, was involved in the buy and sell of jewelry, according to Senior Inspector Dexter Basirgo, the chief of the Guadalupe Police Station.

Basirgo however said that they have still to determine if her shooting was related to her business.

Dosdos had just arrived at the gate of her brother’s house in Forest Hills Drive, Sitio Banawa, Barangay Guadalupe at around 9 p.m. when a man approached and shot her without provocation, hitting her in the neck.

The woman was rushed to a private hospital in uptown Cebu City. Her condition remained unknown.

The suspect, who appeared to have been waiting for Dosdos to arrive, fled on board a motorcycle, said Basirgo.
