Panthers, Lions tighten grip of top two spots of Elite Cebu

THE PANTHERS and the Lions put up blazing performances to remain as the top two teams in the 13th season of the Elite Basketball Club – Cebu last Sunday at the Visayan Glass Gym in Guadalupe, Cebu City.

The Panthers remained unbeaten in the league after scoring a 91-51 rout against the Tigers.

Five Panthers scored in double figures led by Mhel Abella, who had 24 points.

Kim Peque, Mark Panerio, Neil Buot, and Don Panes chipped in 17, 16, 12, and 11 markers, respectively.

Meanwhile, Jon Chua and Sam Cadavos combined for 52 points to lead the Lions past the Wolves, 83-56.

The Lions hold the number two spot with a 6-2 (win-loss) record.

Chua netted 29 points for the Lions while Cadavos added 23.

Rob Abayon contributed 18 markers.

The Rams, on the other hand, failed to take the second spot from the Lions after falling short against the Sharks, 77-76.

Niño Belande led the Sharks with 27 points while center Prince Malana drained 24 to improve to help his team improve to 4-4 in the tournament.

The Rams, who suffered their second loss in seven games, were spearheaded by Phalang Linda’s 28.
