KAPUSO Primetime King Dingdong Dantes is happy to be given the chance to work with Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2018 entry, “Fantastica.”

In an interview with Cebu’s Entertainment Group last December 16, Dantes admitted that he is a fan of Vice Ganda, not just because of his blockbuster films.

“It is about his outlook when it comes to entertainment. Kasi sometimes in this business, if you are an artist, gusto mo karamihan ng ginagawa mo siyempre galing sa ‘yo. ‘Yung intention is to make your creative self happy. But it is very seldom na iisipin mo na gagawin mo ‘to to make the audience happy. There is always a compromise between that. Sa kanya, it is 80-20. Eighty (percent) sa audience na sisiguraduhin na masaya,” he added.

Describing Vice Ganda as hardworking, Dantes said he is thankful to the comedian for guiding him in this project.

“Yung totoo talaga ‘eh wala siyang script noong dumating sa amin. Kinwento lang ‘yung concept when it was presented to us. I already trusted the process and of course the concept, lalo na under the leadership of Vice,” he answered when asked how he prepared for the project.

Before filming, they were told that they might do scenes which are not found in the script.

“It is a lot better compared to traditional na ginagawa ko ‘yung drama na may script, tapos gagawin mo. Nagiging ano siya ‘eh … collaborative. Parang may space ka to create on your own and at the same time nakakaaliw siya kasi parang pinapanood namin si Vice,” he said.

In the movie, Dantes plays Dong Nam, a son from a wealthy Korean family. He is the brother of Ryan Bang’s character and the childhood best friend of Vice Ganda.

The Unkabogable Star is known for his MMFF movies which have topped the box-office. Last year, he headlined the festival’s top-earning film, “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad” which earned P540 million at the box office. In 2015, he and Coco Martin starred in “Beauty and the Bestie,” which earned P428 million. In 2014, “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” which had Vice Ganda in the starring role topped the box office, earning P402 million.

No competition
Aside from Vice Ganda, Dantes, and Gutierrez, three Kapamilya love teams will entertain viewers of “Fantastica.” These are MayWard (Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber), LoiNie (Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte), and KissDon (Kisses Delavin, and Donny Pangilinan).

Andalio, who was at the press con with Dantes, said there is no competition among the love teams.

“Parang nagkukulitan lang po kami lahat ‘eh. Kumbaga ‘yan tinatanong sa amin kung may tensyon ba. Parang wala naman kasi mga bata pa po kami. Hindi po kami ganoon mag isip na ah laban to. Kumbaga parang pamilya po talaga
kami doon na nag tra-trabaho and enjoy talaga,” she added.

Andalio plays one of the three princesses from Fantastica along with Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) ex-housemates Entrata and Delavin.

“Napunta kami sa mundo ng mga tao. Doon nag simula ang story,” she said.

Andalio said she is happy to be given the chance to work with some of the country’s biggest stars, including Dantes.

“Nakaka-starstruck kasi si Kuya Dingdong pinapanood ko lang dati noon ‘yung sikat na palabas niya. Sobrang happy ako na siyempre naka trabaho ko sila. Nakaka-eksena ko sila ni Kuya Chard and si Vice nakasama ko na dati sa MMFF.

Masaya kasi wala akong ibang ginawa kundi tumawa. Nakikitawa lang ako sa pinagagawa nila,” she said.

Directed by Barry Gonzales and produced by Star Cinema, “Fantastica” also stars Bela Padilla, Chokoleit and Jaclyn Jose.
