The Department of Health (DOH) has readied the P21.03 million budget for the first batch of repair works of public health buildings in northern Cebu.
The budget, approved by the DOH central office last month, is for 60 of the 107 health facilities including three hospitals, nine rural health units and 48 barangay health stations damaged by supertyphoon Yolanda.
Russelle Gako, Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS) of DOH-7, said 25 of these 60 repair works are now subject for bidding.
The first batch of repairs will be for Daanbantayan, Bantayan, Santa Fe, Madridejos, San Remigio, Tabogon, Bogo City, Medellin, Pilar, Borbon, Poro and San Francisco.
“The first batch was identified as the most affected health facilities in northern Cebu based on our rapid and follow-up assessment that we conducted after typhoon Yolanda,” he said.
Gako explained that local government units should submit detailed architectural and engineering designs as part of the requirements.
“The possible schedule of bidding will be on the second week of March. We want to do the bidding of all the 60 health facilities within the same day so that we can save time and immediately identify contractors,” he said.
After bidding, the implementation and the monitoring will be done by the LGUs, he said.
Gako explained that there are still 47 health facilities that have a pending budget of P19.9 million which may be approved by end of this month.
