CEBU CITY — Police in Argao town in southern Cebu are now on a hunt for two men who were among the six men accused of allegedly gang-raping a nine-year-old girl in one of the barangays of the town.
A report released by the Argao Police Station said four of the suspects have been arrested a day after what it described as a case of “statutory rape” that took place past 3 p.m. of March 25, 2019.
The arrested suspects were Calixto Aligato Jr. , 22; Guillermo Dumasapal, 48; Remond Emelda, 30; and a 17-year-old boy.
The two remaining suspects were only identified as a certain “Jun” and a certain “Pat.”
Police Major Rolan Aliser, chief of Argao Police Station, said they received a call at past 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, to inform them that a girl was raped by six men a day earlier.
The information said that the nine-year-old girl, a Grade 2 pupil, was dragged and gang-raped by the six men in a secluded area in Argao, 70.5 kilometers south of Cebu City.
He added that one of the suspects is reportedly a relative of the victim. The victim is now in the care of social workers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Argao./elb
