Cebu City, Philippines — Police are planning to file a complaint of negligence against the parents of a 9-year-old girl who was allegedly  gang raped in Argao town, southeastern Cebu.

Police Major Rolan Aliser, the Argao Police Station chief, said they are now conducting an investigation on the parents, whom they noticed are unbothered about what happened to their daughter.

“The crime happened last Monday (March 25, 2019) but the parents did not bother on reporting it immediately. Our informants were not even the parents,” said Aliser.

Aliser said the incident was only reported before their office the next day, Tuesday (March 26, 2019).

“The victim apparently reported it to her teacher, who was one of our informants. One of their neighbors also reported the incident to us,” he added.

Police identified six suspects behind the crime. Four of them are already arrested while the rest remained at large. /bmjo
