The lights will be off for 60 minutes on Earth Hour Saturday, March 30, and some of us are already planning what we can do on that night. Candlelit dinner, board games, stargazing… the list of suggestions is growing.
Earth Hour is also about experience and what better way to document that experience than making picture-perfect memories!
But don’t just take out your camera and start taking mindless pictures. Consider letting that creative person in you come out and let it show in your pictures by trying out night photography.
Lights out on Earth Hour is the perfect time to play with your cameras and camera phones’ capacity to point and shoot in the dark. Night photography gives a different kind of perspective to someone who is used to shooting in broad daylight or with lights.
Sounds impossible? You never know unless you try. It will definitely be challenging without sunlight to help you out but… you’re in for a challenge right?
For your night photography challenge, try out the following tricks:
LIGHT PAINTING
Take out some of your flashlights and paint in the air! You might want to check the settings of your cameras first so you can take most amazing light painting.
STARS’ POWER
They may be a million light years away but they can always brighten up your night photography experience. Why? Because when the sky darkens, the stars glisten.
SILHOUETTES
Try out night photography by focusing on the forms and shapes of your subject. This technique can add more drama to your picture.
FLASH
If you want to achieve that inner glow look at least on photographs, you can always play with your flash. Check how you can position your camera so you come out with creative and memorable photos.
Let the one-hour lights off be the perfect opportunity for you to try out or improve your night photography skills.
