ARGAO, Cebu — Cebu third district representative and gubernatorial candidate Gwendolyn Garcia and running mate Daphne Salimbangon led the One Cebu Party’s campaign kickoff in Barangay Poblacion, Argao, southern Cebu on March 29, Friday.
The activity started with a Mass at the town’s parish church, the Archdiocesan Shrine of Saint Michael Archangel, officiated by Monsignor Camilo Alia.
After the Mass, they gathered in front of the church to raise the hands of the members of their slate.
One Cebu’s Argao town slate is led by Allan Sesaldo and Bootsie Almirante Birondo who are running for mayor and vice mayor, respectively. Completing the line up are Roberto Saniel, Virgilio Fuentes, Gus Anthony Bacalso, Reinerio Miranda, Arnel Rubin, Lodivena Monte, Geymar Pamat, and Marciano Agrabio who are running for Argao town councilors.
Ronnie Cesante ,who is seeking a post as second district representative, and Edsel Galeos, who is running for provincial board member, also joined during the hand raising.
Senatorial candidate Bong Revilla, who was cleared of plunder in pork barrel scam case, was also spotted in the campaign kickoff.
After Argao, the One Cebu Party caravan is scheduled to head to Alcoy, Boljoon, Dalaguete, Oslob, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Badian, Moalboal, Alcantara, Ronda, and Dumanjug.
One Cebu Party supporters wore white and blue shirts bearing the faces of Garcia and Salimbangon.
Garcia served as a governor in Cebu province from 2004 to 2013. In December 2012, the Office of the President ordered her suspension for grave abuse of authority. She was elected as the third district representative of Cebu from 2013 to 2019.
Salimbangon is the daughter of Cebu Fourth District Representative Benhur Salimbangon. /elb
