The incoming PBA draft pool is expected to be chock-full of quality guards after three of the best in the PBA D-League recently bared their plan to go pro immediately after the Foundation Cup which starts on March 18.

The crop is being led by Cebuano guard Brian Heruela, who divulged his desire to place his name in the PBA draft pool after leading the D-League Aspirants Cup in both assists and steals.

“Yes, I’m going to join the PBA Draft after the Foundation Cup,” said Heruela, a former ace of the University of Cebu.

Heruela has seen his stock rise after playing a key role in Big Chill’s runner-up finish to the mighty NLEX Road Warriors in the recently-concluded Aspirants Cup.

“I just try to be the leader on the floor and hit my open teammates and just play hard and give it my all,” said Heruela of his mindset in every game.

The draft pool will also have two prolific guards from NLEX in Aspirants Cup MVP Garvo Lanete and Gilas Cadet guard Kevin Alas. Both recently bared their intentions to join the pro ranks after pacing the Road Warriors to their fifth title in six conferences.

Garvo Lanete is the younger brother of pro Chico and former University of the Visayas guard Von Lanete. Alas, on the other hand, is a former Letran star who also happens to be the son of Alaska assistant coach Louie Alas.
