Gasoline spill caused hotel fire

Gasoline that spilled over inside a generator set room was identified as the cause of the fire at the Crown Regency Hotel at basement 2 (not basement 3 as earlier posted) at 12:30 p.m. today.

Fire Investigator Emiliano Daño Jr. said the fire was put out 30 minutes later.

Two fire trucks from the Cebu City Fire Department along with fire volunteers from the Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade and Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) responded to the site.

Firemen used breathing apparatus since smoke made it difficult for them to reach the basement, damages were pegged at P10,000.
