CEBU CITY, Philippines – The management of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is asking travellers to bear with the inconvenience that may result from the repair of the airport’s runway that will be implemented starting on Monday, April 8.

MCIA posted on its Facebook page at past 2 p.m. today, April 6, that they are scheduled to implement general maintenance of their taxiways from April 8 to  June 6. Asphalt overlay will be done from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the entire duration of the runway maintenance program.

“The work will be done in phases, so some taxiways will be open during the repairs to prevent major disruptions in the airport operations,” said the MCIA post.

However, airport officials warned that “some airplanes may take a longer time taxiing upon arrival or prior to taking off, as they may have to take a long and circuitous route depending on the phase being worked on.”
