(Second update)
MANDAUE CITY, Cebu, Philippines — The fire that broke out on Lopez Jaena St. in Barangay Subangdaku damaged a garments factory, which is located in the same compound where some family members of the building’s owner live.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Edgar Vergara, the chief investigator of the fire incident, said the building is owned by a man named Samson Tiu, who also has residential houses within the same compound as the garments factory.
Vergara said Tiu’s parents and younger brother live inside the compound.
They are unharmed by the fire that broke out past 9:00 p.m. on April 9, 2019.
The Mandaue City Fire Station received the fire alarm at 9:29p.m.
The second alarm was raised at 9:39p.m.
The fire was declared confined at 9:53 p.m. This means that the fire will not affect the neighboring structures.
But Vergara said they are still putting out the fire as of 11:55 p.m. of April 9, 2019 because the fabrics inside the factory burn easily once alight. / celr
