Cebu City, Philippines — Police from Cebu City arrested a foreigner from Papua New Guinea after he was accused of taking photos and videos of his female boardmate while she was bathing.
Noah Malken, who is currently staying and studying in a private university in Cebu City, is now detained at the Fuente Police Station.
He was arrested around 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019.
His 21-year-old female boardmate, who is from Ozamiz City, reported to police that she saw Malken spying on her through a hole on the wall of the bathroom. She also said they had eye-to-eye contact with the suspect.
The suspect, who is 27 years old, and the victim are tenants in a boarding house in Sitio Pailob, Barangay Sambag II, Cebu City.
The victim added that the suspect was holding up a cellphone that she believed was used on recording videos of her taking a bath.
She also told police that her other female roommate warned her about a peeping Tom inside their boarding house.
Malken did not deny the accusations hurled against him.
But he clarified that he saw and took videos of the victim while bathing through an open window.
“I’m not denying that I was tempted to look at her at that time but I saw her through an open window, not a peeping hole, near my room,” said Malken.
Malken will face complaints on violation of the Anti Photos and Videos Voyeurism Act or Republic Act No. 9995.
A smartphone unit was confiscated from the suspect. /bmjo
