Their eight-year-old daughter, who was with couple on the motorcycle, survived the attack, said Police Master Sergeant Marino Lofranco of the Mandaue City Police Office, the investigator on the case, during an interview with CDN Digital.
Marino said a friend of the murdered victims identified them as Fraldine Kate Ramayla Canes, 24, and her husband, Michael Canes, 27, who are both residents of Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City.
Marino said that the victims suffered several gunshot wounds to the body.
According to initial police investigation, the couple, who were into the RTW (ready to wear) clothes business, had just come from the North Bus terminal to send some of their products to Bantayan Island in northern Cebu.
They were heading home when they were followed by two assailants on a motorcycle and were shot at as they arrived at the intersection of SB Cabahug Street and AC Cortes Avenue.
The daughter, who was thrown off the motorcycle when it crashed after her father was shot, survived the attack.
