CEBU CITY, Philippines — Amid the recent killings, the police are now directed to re-evaluate the positioning of their checkpoints.
Brigadier General Debold Sinas, Police Regional Office in Central Visayas chief, ordered the city police directors to reevaluate the positioning and number of checkpoints in their respective areas of responsibilities.
Sinas’ move came amid the recent killing of couple Fraldine Kate Ramayla Canes, 24, and her husband, Michael Canes, 27, by motorcycle-riding gunman along the the intersection of S.B. Cabahug Street and A.C. Cortes Avenue in Barangay Ibabao in Mandaue City at the late night of April 14.

Sinas said he was planning to let the police officers go mobile to give a more an appropriate response time.
Investigation in the couple’s killing were still ongoing and they were looking into the background of the Canes couple.
“What we could tell you is that we’re investigating the case. We’re checking the background of the couple kung bakit ‘ning ato,” said Sinas./dbs
