CEBU CITY, Philippines –The information technology (IT) and business processes management sector now faces changing requirements of their clients.

“We are seeing the industry headed towards high-value services,” according to Wilfredo Sa-a Jr., managing director of the Cebu ICT-BPM Organization (CIB-O).

Today, client-companies require more than the traditional services like the call center services, said Franklin Pasayloon, center director for Sykes Synergis.

To highlight IT – BPO industry concerns and technology update, CIB-O started the annual Transformation Summit. The 2019 Transformation Summit carries the theme “Change By Choice” to highlight the need for the industry to explore other forms of outsourcing services.

“Our theme this year is Change By Choice because we see that if we continue with the usual things we have been doing, we will most likely be left behind,” Sa-a explained in a press conference this morning.

The IT-BPO companies started with contact center services. However, these companies also have to cater to the changing needs for other outsourcing services. These include back office operation, IT outsourcing, shared services, health information management services, finance and accounting, and engineering services.

The summit, now on its third year, will feature several speakers, including Jonathan De Lizuriaga, president of the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines and the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA). /dcb
