Top Cebu drug lord shot dead in Manila

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones was shot dead by unidentified assailants along Timog Avenue, Quezon City in Metro Manila early morning of Maundy Thursday, April 18, 2019.

This was confirmed by Police Colonel Manuel Abrugena, chief of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), in a text message sent to CDN Digital.

Police have been locating the whereabouts of Sabalones, whose illegal activities are traced in San Fernando town of southeastern Cebu, since he publicly admitted in 2016 that he has been a “big-time” supplier of illegal drugs.

Several of his alleged hitmen and cohorts have been gunned down both in police operations and those perpetrated by unknown assailants. / celr
