Expect traffic congestion to worsen at a portion of the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City on March 11, when the government closes part of the Sergio Osmeña Road for repair.
The road section is commonly used by motorists to access Mandaue City’s reclamation area as it connects to Ouano Avenue.
Public utility jeepneys from downtown Cebu City also use the same stretch in going to SM City Cebu and the new court offices in the Qimonda IT Center.
“As part of the initial phase of rehabilitation, the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Visayas (DPWH-7) will be closing a road section…with a length of 900 meters..,” stated a public advisory sent to the media.
The road works in the particular section is expected to last for about five months. After this, repair of other road segments will start.
The total road rehabilitation project covers 2.5 kilometers. The existing asphalt cover will be removed and replaced with concrete.
The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) is also expected to release a PUJ rerouting scheme soon.
