MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — The man whose body was found dumped in Barangay Casili, Mandaue City on Good Friday had links with a known drug lord in Medellin town in northern Cebu, said Police Colonel Julian Entoma, director of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO).

Entoma said that while Niño Alburo, 26, did not have any criminal records, he was listed as among the visitors of drug personality Jeffrey “Commander Ejep” Tumulak who was arrested by the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) in November 2018 for the possession of at least one kilo of shabu and unlicensed firearms.

Tumulak is now detained at the Medellin District Jail. He also used to be detained at the Mandaue City Jail but was released in 2017.

Alburo, a native of Daanbantayan town located at the northern tip of Cebu province, was found dumped in a vacant lot in Barangay Casili, Mandaue City late night on April 22.

Entoma said they are yet to continue their investigation to especially determine the motive in Alburo’s killing.

The MCPO director suspects that Alburo may have been killed in the same area where his body was found by a habal-habal driver around 11 p.m. on Good Friday.  He said that residents there heard gun bursts shortly before the body was found.

Entoma also ruled out the possibility that Alburo was robbed before he was killed because he was still wearing his bracelet when found./dcb
