MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) will tap tanods (village watchmen) to help in securing pilgrims for the National Youth Day (NYD) who will be hosted by their foster homes across eight parishes in the city.
Police Colonel Julina Entoma, MCPO director, said they already had the list of the foster families in Mandaue City who would be hosting the about 1,000 delegates for the religious events that would kick off tomorrow, April 23.
The NYD events will last until April 28.

Entoma also encouraged the delegates to follow what would be scheduled in the NYD itinerary and not to undermine the practice of accountability among themselves.
“Dili man bawal nga moadto sila og malls o asa, pero dapat magpahibalo sila sa ilang mga foster home, in return mopahibawo pod namo. Adto lang pod unta sila kung asa ang ilang gipananghid kay once moingon ang foster homes namo nga niadto og mall, moalerto pod mi sa among tropa nga naay delegates diha,” said Entoma.
(Going to malls or some other place is okay but they have to inform their foster homes who will in turn inform us. They should also only go to places that they asked permission to go to because we will be alerting our troops that some NYD delegates are visiting these places.)
“Duna man gud na silay schedule nga naka-indicate. Naa nay oras nga igpapauli nila, unta i-follow lang,” Entoma added.
(They are given a schedule to follow. I hope they follow the time indicated when they are supposed to be at home.)
Entoma said they had remained on full alert status in order to leave no room for a security breach during the entire time of NYD activities.

Entoma added that the MCPO would be deploying enough uniformed personnel to secure the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex along Ouano Avenue tomorrow where the delegates would be welcomed and picked up in going to their foster homes. | dbs
