CEBU CITY, Philippines – Several vehicles especially motorcycles slipped while passing by the northbound lane of the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) located at the vicinity of Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City shortly after noontime today, April 23.
Netizen Jenard Lirasan said that crude oil that spilled from a passing vehicle made the road slippery.
Lirasan, who also happened to pass by the area shortly before 1 p.m., posted a video of the situation there to ask other motorists to avoid use of the coastal road or to drive with caution while passing by the area.
“GINOO malooy tawn ka hinoot UNTA wala madesrsya… Ayaw tawm mo age srp.. Pls lang kuyaw kaayo.. Huhuhu (God please prevent the occurrence of accidents. Please do not pass by SRP for now. It’s very risky),” Lirasan wrote on his Facebook page at past 12 noon today, April 23.
As of 5 p.m. today, his post already solicited 156, 000 views; 6, 299 shares; and 2, 800 engagements.
“Thank kau kuya daku mi kaayo matabang imong ge buhat, likay nlng tawn aron wlay disgrasya (That you very much because what you just did was very helpful, it made be avoid the area to prevent a possible accident),” commented Flordelis Emilgo.

Anthony Solon of the Talisay City Traffic Operation and Development Authority (CTTODA) said they are yet to identify who caused the oil spill in the area.
Solon said that while there were no close circuit televisions mounted there, people in the area also failed to get the plate number of the vehicle that caused the spill.
CTTODA already covered the slippery portion of the road with saw dust to prevent more accidents from happening.
“Gibutangan na namo og ginabas didto para di na kaayo slide (We placed saw dusts to prevent passing vehicles from slipping),” said Solon. /dcb
