CEBU CITY, Philippines —The police are looking at personal grudge as the motive behind the killing of a businesswoman inside her office at Maria Luisa Road in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City, shortly before noon of Thursday, April 25.
Police Major Dindo Alaras, Mabolo Police Station chief, said the 46-year-old victim, Primegilda Quirante, was sitting at the far-most back portion of the office when the gunman barged in and immediately shot the victim multiple times.
The victim owns and manages a marble and granite trading center, said Alaras.
He said that Quirante’s business, which is based in Cebu City, had been the family’s main source of income.
“Sa pagkakaron, ang among macheck pa gyud kay more likely personal grudge siya kay wala may tuyo lain ang gunman, igo ra man gyud siya nga gipusil,” Alaras told CDN Digital.
(For now, the only angle we could check is personal grudge. The gunman had not done anything else but to shoot her.)
Alaras said the victim was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but she was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
The victim sustained at least four gunshot wounds in different parts of her body.
According to Alaras, the establishment had no security guard in place nor closed-circuit television (CCTV).
The victim was with at least five of her employees inside the establishment when the attack happened.
The gunman was wearing a full-face helmet, and a dark jacket when he entered the establishment, Alaras said.
“Unfortunately wala gyuy CCTV sa establishment ug sa gawas, sa surroundings, wala tay nakita nga CCTV. So ang gibuhat karon sa atong mga investigator is backtracking sa iyang mga possible nga giagian,” said Alaras.
(Unfortunately, there are no CCTVs inside and outside the establishment. Even in the surrounding areas, there are no CCTVs. So what the investigator did was to backtrack on the possible areas where the victim passed on her way to the office.)/dbs
