CEBU CITY, Philippines – Nine beauties from the Visayas will compete in the Ms. Teen Philippines 2019 pageant scheduled on May 8, 2019 at the New Frontier Theater, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City.
They will compete with 23 other candidates coming from other parts of the country for this year’s crown. The bearer of the crown will be named youth ambassador and will bring home a cash prize of P300,000, said a pageant press statement.
The pageant will be aired on May 19 on ABS-CBN.
Central Visayas candidates are Leigh Chanelle Ong (Alcoy); Karla Marie Frances Niere (Consolacion); Kaylah Sanchez (Compostela); Olive May Sophia Bihag (Liloan); Nicole Yance Borromeo (Carcar City) ; and Kathyrene Kaye Rollins (Argao).
The Western Visayas candidates are Regine Claude Romero and Patricia Lynn Beerda of Iloilo City and Joanna Kalkschmidt of Roxas City, Capiz.
The six Central Visayas candidates were chosen from among the 63 aspirants who flocked to the SM City Cebu Mall for the March 2 screening.
A total of 24 young beauties passed the screening process and where made to proceed to the pre-qualifying round where they were made to wear the Hablon de Argao.
“This is part of our advocacy which is promoting the local industry,” said Cebuano fashion designer Dexter Alazas, who is also regional coordinator for Miss Teen Philippines – Central Visayas.
The names of the six Central Visayas winners was announced after the pre-qualifying round held at the SM City Seaside Mall on March 17./dcb
