CEBU CITY, Philippines – The defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles is on course to clinching their third consecutive title in the 3rd Hyundai Champions’ League 2019 ongoing at the Fr. Julian Hernando SJ Athletic Field of the SHS-AdC campus in Mandaue City.
This after not conceding any of their three elimination matches to top Group B with nine points and advance to the semifinals round.
The Magis Eagles won over University of San Carlos (USC), 2-0, San Carlos City’s Gannet FC, 2-0, and DB Blue, 1-0. They hope to advance to the finals at the expense of Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Greywolves which finished second in Group A with a record of one win and two draws.
The Greywolves edged Sagay City, 1-0, then draw their matches against KNF-Don Bosco Boys Home (DBBH), 1-1, and Bohol’s Gaher FC, 0-0.
The other finals ticket will be contested by Group A leader, KNF-DBBH, that finished the elimination with seven points, and Group B second placer DB Blue, who finished the elimination with six points.
KNF-DBBH had a record of two wins and one draw while DB Blue also had two wins but lost its other match. KNF-DBBH scored victories against Sagay City, 3-0, and 4-1 against Gaher FC then draw its match against DBTC, 1-1.
DB Blue, on the other hand, won over Gannet FC,1-0, and USC, 1-0, then lost against Magis Eagles, 0-1. /dcb
