Mandaue police eyeing 2 groups behind LBC heist

Mandaue City police said they are monitoring two robbery groups for their possible involvement in Friday’s robbery of an LBC outlet in  barangay Tabok.

One group is based in Consolacion town and another group is operating in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City  said Insp. Genilo Veraque, chief of the Basak police precinct.

He said these two groups were linked to a series of robberies in Mandaue city and northern towns .

Two men wearing crash helmets barged into the LBC outlet at 11:20 a.m. and forced an employee to hand over about P5,000, the office’s standby fund.  They rode off in a motorcycle.  It was the third time the LBC outlet was held-up in two years. A security camera recorded the heist but the robbers’ faces were covered by their helmets.

Two other men are in jail for the previous robberies that occurred in  May and September last year  They were  natives of Cagayan De Oro City, Misamis Oriental in northern Mindanao who lived in  Lapu-Lapu City.

Veraque said they had advised the LBC Tabok outlet to hire a security guard following the two earlier robberies a security measure to add to a cctv camera installed inside.

He said the LBC Tabok outlet should also install an alarm system to immediately notify the police.

Senior Supt. Petronelli Baldebrin, Mandaue City police chief, earlier called on business establishments to install security cameras in compliance with a city ordinance.
