Cebuano Fajardo wins eighth PBA Best Player of the Conference award

MANILA, Philippines—For the sixth straight time, Cebuano June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer won the Best Player of the Conference award in the PBA Philippine Cup, asserting himself as the undisputed most dominant player in the league today.

The San Miguel Beer center, who already holds the league record for the most number of Best Player of the Conference plums, collected his eighth BPC award.

The 29-year-old Fajardo, who is also the reigning five-time MVP, received the award on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, before Game 4 of the 2019 Philippine Cup Finals between the defending champion Beermen and the Magnolia Hotshots.

The big man from Pinamungajan town, southwestern Cebu immediately proved his worth when he led the Beermen to a 114-98 win over the Hotshots in Game 4 to tie the series at 2-2.

Fajardo finished with 31 points and 14 rebounds in a near-perfect outing. The 6-foot-10 Cebuano shot 13-of-14 from the field. /bmjo
