Capitol to hire more doctors

By: Peter L. Romanillos March 09,2014 - 09:39 AM

Gov. Hilario Davide III said he plans to hire more full time doctors and  medical personnel for  district and provincial hospitals.

Surgeons will be hired as regular employees of all province-run hospitals but he will prioritize Carcar, Danao and Balamban provincial hospitals.

With this, the three hospitals will have surgical capability which is  required for first level accreditation under the guidelines of the  Department of Health (DOH). He targets for the three provincial hospitals to receive the accreditation this year.

“We will now publish our vacancies so that interested doctors can immediately apply. We hope these practitioners that really have specialties will apply,” he said.

Davide said they plan to attract medical doctors to work under the provincial government through incentives given by PhilHealth aside from hiring them as regular employees.

“PhilHealth now has a program where hospitals and payment will have a share of the province’s payment to them. That will increase the income of the doctors,” he said.

“In Pangasinan,  on top of their salaries, they receive P30,000 to P40,000 or even more so Philhealth really helps,” he added.
