Mandaue City, Cebu—Anybody living in a place they call home sees there’s nothing like it—and it’s true.
Cebu is considered among the top provinces in the Visayas region, and is particularly rich in historical significance as well as art appreciation. It is a place treasured by locals, and one of the most visited destinations in the country.
With the initiative of Celso Pepito, a group of 40 Cebuano artists represented by ArtPortalCebu successfully launched an exhibit at the Maayo Hotel in Mandaue City, Cebu, last May 12, 2019. The exhibit will be open for viewing until June 11, 2019.
Dubbed “Cebu: People, Places and Faces,” the exhibit captures the essence of the city and of its people to further extract and expound casting of history.
This event, which showcases works of 40 artists, aspires to help promote Cebu artists and spread art awareness in the community.
“The exhibit intends not just to sell the pieces but to also showcase Cebu and its talented artists in promoting Cebuano culture, history and by supporting talents through these activities,” said Pepito, Head of ArtPortalCebu.
In an interview following the official opening ceremony of the 2-month art exhibit, Pepito revealed that he has been an artist for almost 40 years and draws inspiration from the people, his family, God and his love for the country.
“To those who are beginners in the form of art, you have to know your craft; identify what kind of art is the best way to express your message; and don’t forget to do it passionately,” said Pepito, who has staged more than 200 group exhibits, and 47 solo exhibits.
