CEBU CITY, Philippines – Central Visayas will be gunning for its fourth overall championship in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games, which will be hosted by Davao City from May 19 to 25, 2019.
The Central Visayas delegation will be manned by 420 athletes, coaches and officials to be led by PRISAA Central Visayas president, Father Vicente “Vic” L. Uy.
The bulk of Central Visayas representatives will be coming from the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi). These are those who ruled the PRISAA Regional Games held in Bohol last February.
The Cebu delegates, numbering to about 300, coming from the University of San Carlos (USC), University of Cebu (UC), University of the Visayas (UV), University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), Cebu Institute of Technology University (CITU) and Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU), among others, attended the send-off mass held at the USC main chapel Wednesday morning, May 15, 2019, and presided by Father Adriano Ocariza, the USC athletic director.
Father Ocariza blessed the athletes as well as their uniforms and implored for a safe competition and travel for the delegation.
The Cesafi delegates will be joined by about a hundred athletes from Bohol particularly from University of Bohol (UB), Holy Name University (HNU), Bohol Institute of Technology (BIT) International College, Philippine Maritime Institute (PMI) and Mater Dei College.
For the first time in many years, Dumaguete will be having a representative, four badminton players from the Foundation University, to join Central Visayas.
In previous PRISAA events, Dumaguete has opted not to join due to some conflict.
The Central Visayas delegation will be leaving in batches for Davao starting on May 17. /bmjo
