THE TOP two seeds in the 14-Under Boys age group scored contrasting victories last Thursday in the opening day of the 3rd leg of the Philippine Sports Commission-Philippine Lawn Tennis Association Visayas Junior Tennis Championships at the Montevista Tennis Association’s (Monta) tennis courts in Bacolod City.
Boys’ 14-Under top seed Adrian de Hertogh coasted to the next round without breaking a sweat as he won via walkover versus Prince Dimate, while second-seeded Karl Baran inked a 6-1, 6-3 win over Carlo Placencia to likewise advance into the next round in the age group division.
The other netters in the 14-Under Boys’ division who secured wins in the opener of the Group 2 Philta event were Cesar Fernando Po, who etched a thrilling 6-0, 7-6 (5) win over Adrian Javier; Reynan Mahusay, who toppled Rolando Preston, 6-2, 6-1; and Rewel Justiniani, who advanced to the next round with a walkover win versus Kevin Villa.
